Secure facilities are the foundation for protecting our nation’s most sensitive research, technologies, and classified information. Understanding the distinct requirements of 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Open Storage Areas and ICD 705 accredited facilities are essential for Industrial Security Professionals responsible for safeguarding National Security Programs while enabling mission success.

This presentation will provide an overview of both secure facility types, highlighting their purpose, design requirements, accreditation processes, and operational considerations. Attendees will gain practical insight into the similarities, differences, and best practices for planning, constructing, accrediting, and managing secure environments in support of the Industrial Security Community. This presentation will be provided by Marc Sheie and Beau Hatch, Physical Security SMEs at ARL:UT.
