Professional Development is critical to skill development and career growth. Often it’s up to you to take control and put in the hard work to become better at what you do. NCMS has always been an integral part of a Security Professionals knowledge and skills, but we realize there are broader areas of learning for those that have been in the profession for a time. After learning the basics, many wish to hone in and strengthen their behaviors and skills in business acumen, leadership, communication, and executive presence.

The first pillar in the program focuses on Professional Development, emphasizing its importance for skill enhancement and career growth. It caters to both new members learning security fundamentals and seasoned professionals seeking to strengthen their skills in areas like business acumen, leadership, communication, and executive presence. The pillar offers short video ‘bursts’ followed by discussions in the Professional Development Hub Community, NCMSLive Presentations, and at our Seminars.

Mentoring

Expand your skills through various mentoring opportunities.
The second pillar is the traditional Mentoring Pillar, providing various mentoring options such as Structured/Situational Mentoring and Peer Mentoring (Hub Community). Although we will no longer track mentoring relationships, the program will continue to facilitate mentor/mentee profiles and encourage suitable connections. Mili-Mentoring

Mentoring for the successful transition from military to civilian life.
The third pillar introduces the Mili-Mentoring Program, supporting transitioning military personnel entering the industrial security field. This initiative aims to educate military personnel about security career opportunities and leverage their skills for success in civilian roles. Mentors will be paired with mentees based on similar service records. The 9-month curriculum will draw primarily from CDSE’s FSO Program Management coursework. Successful completion of the program will be recognized, and NCMS will cover the mentee’s second year of membership.
